Christmas is my favorite holiday, and I can think of no time that presents a better opportunity to move people through the power of live performance. Knight Arts whose catchy slogan, “Witnessing the transformational power of the arts”, is behind “random acts of culture”, a movement to bring classical performance out of the music halls and theaters and to the people through their everyday business.
On October 30, the Opera Company of Philadelphia surprised shoppers with a seemingly impromptu performance of Hallelujah from Handel's Messiah. Over 600 choristers from local choirs joined the famed Wanamaker Organ in an uplifting and moving performance viewed an astounding 5,000,000 times on YouTube since it's posting.
We talk a lot about social networking and its effect on ticket sales. This outstanding event is the perfect vehicle to boost ticket sales in Philadelphia and raise awareness on the beauty of classic music. Phenomenal!
